Vladimir Mirzoev: “There is a cold war between the descendants of the victims and executioners”

Vladimir Mirzoev – about how to live in the days of anti -Heroes.

In the theater. Evg. Vakhtangov was released the play “Crazy Day, or the marriage of Figaro” according to the comedy Bomarsche. Director Vladimir Mirzoev saw in the play of the 18th century many parallels with today’s problems.

Psychologies: In the final of the performance, Count Almaviva asks for forgiveness for each character of the performance. Timely repentance can save a lot. But why in life it is so difficult to pronounce the word “sorry” in time?

IN. M.: Probably, uncontrolled power blinds, like lightning – and any person, regardless of his mind, talents, principles. Superman says “sorry” only at the last moment, at the time of a personal catastrophe, when the sky becomes a sheepskin and the last clarity comes. I remember the miserable eyes of Saddam Hussein in the pit – just an unhappy, to death frightened old man, no longer a dictator, not a superman.

With all the phenomenal charm of Sukhanov, yet the count is an antihero. Now is the time not of heroes, but anti -Heroes?

IN. M.: Perhaps yes. Our reality, similar to a bad dream, a bad joke, to Dostoevsky’s “scandals”, determine and energetically form anti -Heroes.

Although Figaro and Suzanne are my favorite heroes, they are inferior in all respects to Count Almaviv. These guys have neither money, no status, no connections, nor parents, nor their own roof over their heads. They are ordinary young people from the province. True, they have a head on their shoulders and there is love. They have each other, and this makes them incredibly strong, almost invulnerable to the intrigues of the local king-feud. If the count were a banal fool-linse, we would not have worried so-the fight would be conditional, non-hazardous. However, in the end she turned out to be. But not because the almaviv is a weak opponent – just Suzanne and Figaro are invincible. How invincible the movement of life and the desire of a modern person for freedom, away from the tribal archaic.

Your performance is called “Mad Day”. What, in your opinion, is the madness of today?

IN. M.: We live an amazing segment of our history. For a social psychologist, for a writer and director – exceptionally valuable material, unique. I have an almost physical feeling that the country again (at a time) is trying to leave the axial time to a cyclic. Where there is no evolution, where there is neither Darwin, nor Einstein, nor Vernadsky, where you can only dream of a capable parliament.

I say the “country”, but I mean, of course, the elite, the ruling class that captured the monopoly on all conceivable resources: political, budget, media. That is, a particular group of individuals performs the abortion of modernization, wants to return, so to speak, to its traditional bosom: with the feudal dependence of all levels, all the

layers of society – from the monarch and its yard to the last swivel in the zone. A perfectly organized world for this type of consciousness – barracks. The question of why they do this, it makes no sense – this strategy is one hundred percent selfish.

For me the main question is different: the population also wants it? Or the Soviet man is so plastic? Sculpted anything, he will only say thanks? The anthropologist would probably give such an answer: the injuries of the twentieth century are monstrous, the wounds are not healed, the cold war between the descendants of the victims and executioners continues. Moreover, it is deliberately provoked by domestic fans of Machiavelli – share and rule, have fun and bargain. Backing wedges, cracking the population along all possible lines – religious, property, national – this is not the tactics of state husbands. For this, the state was invented to smooth out conflicts, to look for a balance of interests that are inevitably contradictory – modern society is not homogeneous, but, on the contrary, multi -layered and fragmentary.

In my opinion, the desire to climb into the den and there to be forgotten by a sweet dream for one hundred and fifty years deeply anti -historical and dangerous for the future of the country. Do you need another geopolitical disaster? That’s right – not needed. So, you need to adequately respond to the challenges of modern civilization, and not glue the makeup of the characters of Vladimir Sorokin.

And yet: is it possible to return to a cyclic (fixed in the past) time, or is it a crazy anti-utopia? Apparently, you can. For this, you need a real trifle – to destroy or reduce in the legal sense to null European Russia. According to various estimates, this is 15–20 million citizens. Ivan the Terrible found a simple solution to the “European question” – he killed with whole families, ravaged the hands of his guardsmen of not only boyars, but also merchants, peasants, seized property. Stalin learned a lesson, the Chekists continued to destroy the elite, remove the fertile cultural humus, a layer by a layer, alphabetically, until they reached a stone breed. They thought it was the foundation of the Soviet temple, but it turned out – dinosaur bones.

The dream of “new nobles” (definition of Patrushev) – to squeeze the educated class abroad so that they do not get confused underfoot and prevent the masses from educating the masses. In the near future we are waiting for the introduction of visiting visas.

What helps you to confront madness?

IN. M.: I am difficult to worry about an artificial split inside society, I can hardly cope with emotions. I recall the French: they, being in the company, never talk about politics or religion – they consider it indecent. Perhaps we all cost to take this principle into service, at least temporarily. I do not want to lose people with whom I have been friends for forty, thirty years. Which helps to cope with madness? The profession helps.
